If your couch had wheels it still wouldn't be as comfortable as Big Cat's Road trike. Sporting a lightweight aluminum frame with stable geometry and 20-inch wheels makes for a quick, go-kart-like ride and the trike design eliminates any balance issues so anyone can ride the Road. The specs are dialed with the TruVativ cranks and the SRAM twist shifters. The Ergo seat and Space neck rest put you in the lap of luxury and makes it so you can generate power easily and in total comfort. Nice details abound like a rear view mirror and flag for safety, a Velcro strap parking brake and even clipless pedals.

To measure your X-Seam, sit flat on the floor with your back reclined against a 30- to 48-inch board angled 14- to 15-inches from the wall and measure along the floor from the board to your heel. Be sure your buttocks are pressed against the board and your legs are flat on the floor. If you're close to either end of the X-Seam range, just ask us and we'll help you choose the proper size.

I've owned my 2010 Catrike Road for 6 months and 1100 miles now. It is my 1st recumbent trike. I also own a Bacchetta recumbent bicycle. The things I like about trikes in general are: Trikes are fun! If you want that same feeling you had riding your Stingray or BMX bike as a kid buy a trike. Trikes are easy to ride in a group, without the need to balance it's easy to ride alongside another triker and chat. The other neat feature is when you come to a stop, you just stop, no unclipping or clipping in to get stopped/started. The Road is right in the middle of the Catrike line up as far as wheels sizes (bigger fronts than the Speed and 700) smaller rear and shorter rear triangle than the 700 or Expedition. The seat angle is the same as the Expedition, by the way. The three 20" wheels ride smooth and corner very well. Having a small back wheel also means a really low, low gear and quick acceleration. A human powered go-kart is a good way to describe the Road. Some people don't like Catrike's direct steering as it can seem twitchy. It took me a few rides, but now I feel totally a home with it. It tracks straight and goes exactly where I point it. It's very responsive in turns like a mini Porsche! I live in a hilly area so my reward for all the climbing is a lot of descending 30 – 40 mph descents are stable and fun. Of course it helps that the brakes work really well too! Top gear spins out at about 28mph I'm going downhill if I'm going that fast anyway, so let gravity do the work. It's nice to buy a cycle that doesn't really need any upgrades even the tires are good quality Schwalbe Marathon Racers which are fast, wide enough for some cushion, and seem to be wearing well.I chose the Shimano bar end shifter group and Avid brakes. In the time I've had it I haven't had to mess with the shifting, brakes, or wheels. I like that the back of the seat has pockets for mini pump, tubes, tools, and a patch kit. I added the Catrike bags that fit behind the seat because they are so well integrated into the trike they don't look added on or bulky. Lastly I really like that you can order your Catrike in a variety of colors. If there's a color that speaks to you it's worth the extra hundred or so dollars. With the integrated seat/frame and direct steering there isn't a lot of extra struts, linkages, and such. It's a very nice cycle to sit and look at, and it's a few pounds lighter than its competition as well. I average 12mph on hilly rides (14-15mph on flat rides) which is 2 or 3 mph slower than what I did on my DF road bike, but like another trike rider told me: "You don't care that you are slower, you're having too much fun!" That is case with me and my Road. It fits (just) in my small hatchback, a bonus as it's easier wheel it in and go than messing with my rack. Only a headrest that kept losing bolts until I replaced them with longer ones and lock washers and the fact that it came with a 30T granny chainring which I replaced with a 26T for easy climbing at 2-3mph, I can't fall over after all, kept it from being a 5 star ride.
